Many of you will have seen the article in today’s West Briton titled ‘Consultants appointed to look into Stadium Strategy, if not please see the link below:
West Briton - Consultants brought in as stadium plan is considered
The Club are mentioned along with the Cornish Pirates.
Supporters should know that the Club is actively engaged with the Council and its Consultants and is fully supportive of the initiative. It has also urged that in addition to the Stadium complex itself, there should be provision for the necessary training facilities the club so urgently needs and for other sports and recreational activities currently lacking proper facilities in the community.
In recent years, the Club has upgraded its current site at Treyew Road to meet the improving standards required as it achieved successive promotions, but it remains the case that the existing ground cannot satisfy the full requirements of the Club if it is to play at the highest level.
For that reason, the Club has undertaken a very considerable amount of work at its own expense to provide stadium and training facilities suitable for League football and remains fully committed to that project.
Inevitably, such a scheme will involve the redevelopment of the existing ground for best value, but supporters should be aware that both the Club and the planning authorities will require any redevelopment and relocation to be linked so that they cannot happen in isolation, and intends to retain the freehold of Treyew Road to enable the income generated from any new user to sustain the Club in the future.
