Truro City became one of the founder members of the CCFA when they attended the meeting at the Royal Hotel in Truro on the 18th September 1889 in which the CCFA was founded. The other clubs present were: Porthcurnoe, Penzance, Probus School, Liskeard, Dunheved School, Torpoint and Millbrook. City's first recorded match was played at Truro College against Penzance on the 4th October 1889 when they won by 7 goals to 1. Further Games were played at Tolgarrick, adjacent to the existing Treyew Road ground. City won their first trophy in 1895 when they won the Cornwall Senior Cup, beating Launceston by 5 goals to 0. City have won the Cornwall Senior Cup a record breaking 14 times. Fourteen and a half times if one counts the draw with Saltash Stars in 1930 when the cup was shared. In fact City never physically held the cup, although the CCFA records show a shared trophy. T he final was drawn and Saltash could not raise a team for the replay due to some of their players having service commitments - Truro did offer to play and let Saltash include some guest players, but the CCFA ruled the trophy would be shared but Truro refused to hold it for their six months.

In 1934 Truro left Cornish Football - after having won the old Cornish League in 1932 and 1933 - to join the Plymouth and District League, becoming champions in 1936/37.As a result of leaving the Cornwall Senior League they were barred from entering the Cornwall Senior Cup. They had proposed to run a reserve team in the Senior Cup League, but at a CCFA meeting - on a proposal by Lostwithiel, which was seconded by Bodmin Town - Truro were not admitted to the CCFA

City appealed to the FA, but received a reply to the effect that the FA could not interfere in a domestic dispute between local clubs in Cornwall. It was to be in 1938 before they were re-admitted back into the CCFA.

Truro have won the Durning Lawrence Charity Cup - which they gave to the County - eleven times, the first time in 1912 and the last in 1981.

The Cornwall Combination League was won in 1994/95, 1998/99 and 2005/06 and the League Cup won on eight occasions: 1968, 1978, 1986, 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2006, with the Supplementary Cup in 1993 and 1998-99, The George Evely Cup has been won seven times 1968, 1978, 1986, 1988, 1999, 2000 and 2006.

When the South Western League was formed in 1951 Truro City were one of the founder members. They did not meet with immediate success, having to seek re-election for the first to seasons. They had to seek re-election again in 1992 and 1993.Their first championship came in 1960/61 and they have been champions four times since: 1969/70, 1992/93, 1995/96 and 1997/98. The League Cup has come to Truro on three occasions: 1959/60, 1966-67 and 1997/98

The South Western League Sporting Trophy was won in 1974/75 and 1988/89, and the Best Ground Trophy in 1995/96. At the end of the 1974/75 season City were forced to leave the League due to the fact that their ground had been used for a road widening scheme, and it was the 1978/79 season before they were re-admitted.

Kevin Heaney first became involved in Truro City FC in 2004 when he began to realise his ambition to take TCFC to the professional leagues. What he found was a club in dire financial straits. In debt and running out of time the Club took the decision to let Mr Heaney take over. He cleared their debts, assumed ownership of the Club and took the long leasehold of the ground (the Trustees of the Club hold the freehold).

Since then Mr Heaney has worked to ensure twin aims; firstly to ensure that the Club itself is self-sustaining and secondly to progress through the league system with the ultimate goal of becoming a professional football club.

The on-the-field transition hasn't gone un-noticed either. City achieved promotion from the Carlsberg South Western League after finishing runners up in 2005/06 after a terrible start to the season had looked to put pay to City's ambition. Even greater things were destined in the 2006/07 season as City secured an historic treble; retaining the Senior Cup, winning the Toolstation Western League Division 1 by a record margin and winning the FA Vase at Wembley in front of 27,754.

The club are hoping that all the sides progress forward again in 2007/08, and beyond!

So here we are, the beginning of the 2009/10 season.  the last 2 seasons have been particularly enthralling for the club and everyone involved with the club.

2007/08 saw Truro City gain another promotion, from the Western League into the Southern League South and West, after finishing top of the table.  The success was paying off as Truro acquired many new faces to help with the next venture, promotion from the Southern league South and West.

Along with the many new players, came a new manager.  Sean McCarthy was unveiled as the club's new manager in May of 2008.  McCarthy brought with him a wealth of professional experience, as well as his coaching credentials.

In the 2008/09 season, McCarthy made an instant impact, when he led the side to another promotion.  This one was not without a fight, and City were pushed all the way to the end by AFC Totton.  Finishing top of the table was no easy feat, and the hard work of the players and management made sure City were sitting proudly at the top of the table come the end of the season.

The start of the 2009/10 season is now here.  Sitting 2nd in the Southern Premier Division, 2 promotions away from the Conference.

Can the promotions continue? Lets hope so, and with the success on the pitch, the success off the pitch should also continue.  With Tiger Commercial (Truro) Ltd taking over commercial matters, the club as a whole will benefit.
