Manager's blog

LET ME start by looking back on last season. Our aim going into the campaign was to improve on the previous season’s finish of 11th place, but to go on the run we did and show such levels of consistency really was fantastic.
We held our nerve better than anyone else and to end the season with seven straight wins made us worthy Champions.
To secure promotion at the end of my first full season in charge was a dream come true. I took great pride in what was a tremendous achievement for everyone involved with the club. It was a real team effort with everyone putting in so much hard work.
The boys have returned to pre-season training looking fit, sharp and raring to go, so things are progressing nicely. All the lads have signed up for the new season, which is a big boost to me as the team spirit and work ethic here is superb.
Training is all well and good, but I know from past experience at this time of the year, the players just want to get out there and start playing matches again.
I am under no illusions about how tough the Blue Square South is going to be. I have already watched a couple of teams and it is clear to see that the quality at this level will be far greater than anything we have ever experienced.
It’s new territory for us and a big challenge, but one that we will face with relish and determination.
All we can do is give it our best shot and see where it takes us.
It will be an exciting adventure, that’s for sure.
